I hope you enjoy reviewing this list of new blues albums & upcoming releases for Mid April 2026! The contemporary blues continues to celebrate both the classic blues art form and push the blues forward with an energy and cultural relevance that should appeal to new audiences. I am excited about the future of the blues….hope you are also! As always, you should hear tracks from all these recording in the coming months on BMFR!
Recordings Out Now – Albums
Marc Broussard – Chance Worth Taking [Keeping the Blues Alive Records]
- Soul infused blues from a great Louisiana artist. The album is produced by Joe Bonamassa & Josh Smith who both also appear on the recording.
Peter Karp – Jersey Town [Indie]
- Peter’s brand of blues rock is infused with soul, witty lyrics, and great music! The new album is a keeper!!
Charlie Beale – Steady Rolling [Freshly Squeezed Records]
- Charlie Beale is a UK based electro blues artist. The new recording reminds me of several of R.L. Burnside’s last albums that applied modern beats to the hill country & delta blues.Â
Curtis Salgado – Legacy Rewind: Live in ’25 [NOLA Blue Records]
- The new record is a live performance Curtis did last year in Seattle. Yet another reminder of how great a soul blues artist he is!
Robben Ford – Two Shades of Blues [Provogue Records]
- Truly one of the world’s great guitar players, this five time Grammy nominated artist has collaborated with Charlie Musselwhite, Jimmy Witherspoon, George Harrison, Bonnie Raitt, Bob Dylan, and many others over his storied career that began in the 1960’s. The new recording melds blues, rock, and soul/funk as well as jazz into a glorious mix of sonic bliss…oh yeah!
Corey Harris/Alvin Youngblood/Guy Davis – Fight On!: True Blues Vol. 2 [Yellow Dog Records]
- The new album is the continuation of a project that the three artists began with True Blues Volume One in 2013. It features both originals and some classic acoustic blues. As Corey stated “we are three African-American bluesmen who are fighting to maintain our cultural legacy and heritage.” The new recording speaks well of their efforts!!
Boogie Beasts – Don’t Be So Mean! – A Tribute to R.L. Burnside [Donor Productions]
- This four piece band from Belgium has a love for the hill country blues. There is no better modern outlet for that passion than this recording that celebrates the music of R. L. Burnside. Ya gonna love it!!!
