This week’s new singles are a delightful mix of traditional blues, acoustic blues, and what I term “Blues Pop”. Rosedale Junction’s new song is laid back chill blues at its best. Matt Charles’ new single from his album Highland Avenue is great harpin’ blues. And Germany’s Michael Van Merwyk’s new release is some fine acoustic blues.
And out of Australia, there are two new singles that epitomize modernized classic rhythm & blues and soul ala Chess Records in the 1950’s and Motown in the 1960’s. Think Etta James and you should get a good feel for what I mean by Blues Pop. I encourage you to give a listen to the Dojo Cuts and The Bamboos singles below. And if ya like it, check out music from their fellow Australians: The Teskey Brothers, Sonic Saliva, and The Meltdown. And for American counterparts give a listen to Teddy Swims, ZZ Ward, and Nathaniel Rateliff & the Cold Sweats.
I hope you ENJOY listening to these songs during the coming weeks on Blues Music Fan Radio!
